ASU Mid-South, located in West Memphis, AR, receives a generous $9,000 donation from Fred Leonard State Farm Hometown Showdown. The Hometown Showdown is an annual community tailgate and fundraising event that is held in conjunction with the ever popular football game between rivals The Academies of West Memphis and Marion high schools.
The Hometown Showdown kicked off in 2017, and has grown into a beloved tradition that draws in fans, families, alumni and community leaders together to celebrate the love of spirit and unity. The mission of the even is “to highlight the importance of education and showcase school spirit while building a sense of community.”
The last even took place on Friday, October 11th 2024 at Southern Bancorp Stadium in Marion, AR. The funds raised from the event go directly into benefiting seniors who are graduating from both The Academies of West Memphis and Marion high schools as well as the college’s Student-Athlete Fund.
“We are so incredibly thankful for this generous donation from the Hometown Showdown,” said Dr. Debra West, Chancellor of ASU Mid-South. “It’s always inspiring to see our community support the power of education. The Fred Leonard State Farm Hometown Showdown continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to helping our student-athletes thrive.”
